Alongside her work at Iro Iro, founder Bhaavya Goenka’s research and writing explore the intersections of material culture, craft knowledge, circular design and social change. Her work includes Decolonising Materials, a contribution to the book Design Materials and Making for Social Change (2023), a second chapter available through Taylor & Francis and Embracing the Past, Weaving the Future: A Journey of Upcycling and Sustainability through Fibres, published by Global InCH. She has also contributed to the British Council’s Climate Connection series, sharing perspectives on sustainable fashion and textiles. Across her research, writing and practice, Bhaavya examines how inherited knowledge systems can inform contemporary material innovation, and how design can help build more distributed, responsible and enduring ways of making.
