These principles guide how Iro Iro works and the standards we expect of those we work alongside.

People

We believe good work begins with fair work.

Everyone involved in making Iro Iro is paid above the national average wage and treated with dignity and respect. We work only with partners who uphold human rights and recognised labour standards, and we do not continue relationships where these principles are compromised.

We are committed to providing stable, year-round employment, alongside opportunities for training, learning and growth.

Materials

Every handwoven Iro Iro fabric originates from reclaimed textiles.

We work with pre-consumer offcuts, deadstock yarns, surplus textiles and discarded clothing, transforming existing materials into new cloth.

We do not use animal-derived materials obtained through harm to animals.

Where possible, we eliminate plastic from our process. Our care labels are printed using soot-based ink, made from captured air pollution.

Production

We make thoughtfully and produce only what is needed.

Most pieces are made to order, allowing us to avoid excess inventory and unnecessary waste.

Our weaving is decentralised across villages in Rajasthan, enabling artisans to work close to home while maintaining traditional skills and livelihoods. Water used in the dyeing process can be reused for agricultural purposes, extending its value beyond the workshop.

Partnerships

We choose our partners carefully and expect them to share these commitments.

When our standards are not met, we review and, where necessary, end the relationship.
