Care

Our cloth is handwoven from reclaimed textiles. It is designed to soften, settle and develop character with wear. With thoughtful care, each piece can be worn for many years.

The first wash 

Handwoven cloth may shrink slightly on its first wash, typically between five to ten percent. Dyed fabrics can release excess colour during the first few washes.

Wash separately in cold water for the first three to four washes. Turning the garment inside out will help preserve the depth of colour.

Washing 

For handwoven pieces, hand wash in cold water, below 30°C, using a mild detergent. Avoid soaking for extended periods and do not use bleach.

If machine washing is necessary, use a cool, delicate cycle and place the garment inside a wash bag.

Drying

Press out excess water gently without wringing. Lay flat between towels to absorb moisture, then dry flat in the shade.

Dyes will soften and fade if exposed to prolonged direct sunlight. Tumble drying is not recommended.

Ironing 

Iron on a low setting while the cloth is still slightly damp. Heavier weaves may be steamed from the reverse side.

Storage 

Store folded in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For heavier handwoven garments, folding is preferable to hanging, which can gradually distort the weave.

A note on the cloth

Handwoven textiles are woven from reclaimed fabric offcuts that are hand-joined into a continuous yarn before weaving.

Variations in colour, texture and weave are an inherent and celebrated part of this process. They reflect the material's origins and the hand of its maker, and should be understood as characteristics of the cloth rather than imperfections.
